The Patriots ran through the conference yet again.

Three of those players earned all-conference honors on Monday.

The Allen County Athletic Conference named its all-conference teams for girls basketball and Jay County High School led the way with three honorees.

South Adams had two earn the accolade.

Seniors Shelby Caldwell and Kendra Muhlenkamp of JCHS were both named first team while classmate Hannah Phillips earned a second-team nod as they led the Patriots to a sweep of ACAC titles this season en route to a 17-8 (6-0 ACAC) record.

Caldwell set the school record for points in a single game (41) and also became the third player in program history — and just the sixth total for JCHS — to reach the 1,000-point plateau. She ended her career with 1,071 points, and averaged 18.3 points per game this year.

Muhlenkamp finished fourth in career steals and fifth in career assists. She averaged three steals and 4.7 assists per game as a senior, tops on the team. She also notched 8.9 PPG.

Phillips was third on the team in scoring at eight points per game, and she climbed to fifth on the list for 3-pointers in a season with 40.

Senior Emilee Myers and junior Lydia Loshe of South Adams (10-13, 2-4 ACAC) were both named to the ACAC second team.

Myers led the Starfires in scoring with 12.7 points per game while her four rebounds per game tied for third. Loshe tallied 11.7 points, second to Myers, and was second on the squad with 5.6 rebounds per game

Nominated

Michael Schlechty, a Jay County High School senior, was nominated for player of the week for District 2 by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association, the group announced on Monday.

Schlechty set a new career high with 29 points in leading the Patriots (14-5, 6-0 Allen County Athletic Conference) to a 55-53 win over the Heritage Patriots on Friday to secure back-to-back regular-season conference titles. He also led the team with eight rebounds.

A day later, Schlechty totaled 10 points in a 44-42 win in overtime at home against Leo. He had the game’s only two points in the overtime period while also totaling four rebounds.

Thanks to his 39 points over the last two games, Schlechty has climbed to 31st on the program’s career scoring list with 518 points. He surpassed nine people, including former teammate Cole Stigleman (500). He sits four points behind Ted Hostetler and eight behind Ric Fuller.

Fort freshmen fall

NEW BREMEN, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s freshman boys basketball team fell to the New Bremen Cardinals on Monday, 52-43.

Logan Homan and Owen Jutte paced the Indians with 15 points apiece, while Caleb Evers joined them in double figures with 10 points.

It was the sixth straight loss for the Tribe, which dips to 1-8 on the season.

Tribe bows out

MARIA STEIN, Ohio — The Fort Recovery Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team had its season end on Monday as it bowed out of the Midwest Athletic Conference tournament with a 27-21 loss to Coldwater at Marion Local.

Cale Rammel scored nine points to lead the Indians, who finished the season 14-2. After dropping their season opener, the Indians won 14 in a row, including Saturday’s MAC tournament opener against St. Henry.
