NEW CASTLE — Brody Collins came up a couple shots short.
Collins, son of Eric and Laura Collins of Portland, finished as the runner-up on Saturday in the Elks Hoop Shoot Indiana State Finals at New Castle Fieldhouse.
Competing in the 8-and-9-year-old boys division, Collins made 20 of his 25 shots, two fewer than the champion.
Collins received a certificate, medal and trophy for his accomplishment.
Eagles fall to Raiders
PONETO — West Jay Middle School’s wrestling team fell to the host Southern Wells Raiders on Monday, 30-12.
Aidan Stephens, a 90-pounder, pinned his opponent in 31 seconds, the same amount of time it took Caleb Wessner to get a pin in his 102-pound match.
In exhibition contests, Aiden Pierce, Caleb Dollar and Zander Conatser all won by pin.
