Perfect.
And it wasn’t close.
The Jay County Summer Swim Team cruised easily past Randolph County on Monday to finish off its regular season at 7-0. It won by a 959-137 margin at Portland Water Park, taking first place in all but three events.
Jay County, which also won the Wabash Valley Relays early in the season, have a week and a half off before competing in the Wabash Valley Conference Championships at 9 a.m. July 13 at Berne Pool.
Three Fishers — Ben, Kaitlyn and Matthew — repeated their effort from Monday night when they were the team’s lone triple event winners against Union City. This time, they had some company.
Kaitlyn Fisher and Lani Muhlenkamp combined to sweep the 9-10-year-old girls events, with the former taking the long freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke, and the latter winning the butterfly, individual medley and short freestyle. Raif Beiswanger added victories in the 9-10-year-old boys long freestyle, butterfly and individual medley.
In the 8-and-younger division, Ben Fisher was first in the boys individual medley, butterfly and breaststroke. Meanwhile, Maria Laux took the top spot in the girls long freestyle, butterfly and individual medley.
Jay County had one triple-event winner in each of the upper age groups:
•Matthew Fisher — 11-12-year-old boys long freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke
•Ralph Link — 13-14-year-old boys butterfly, individual medley and short freestyle
•Erica Hathaway — 15-and-older girls butterfly and individual medley, and open 200 freestyle
A trio of Beiswangers — Tony (8-and-under boys long freestyle and short freestyle), Creed (11-12-year-old boys butterfly and individual medley) and Dorane (15-and-old short freestyle and open 200 freestyle) — each won a pair of events. They were joined by Lauren Fisher (11-12-year-old girls butterfly and breaststroke), Mara Bader (13-14-year-old girls long freestyle and individual medley), Cohen Henry (13-14-year-old boys long freestyle and backstroke), Kyle Sanders (15-and-older boys long freestyle and backstroke) and Chase McFarland (15-and-older boys butterfly and individual medley).
Adding individual wins for Jay County were Elly Byrum, Lila Wendel, Kali Wendel, Finn Hemmelgarn, Colt Pennington, Rockland Beiswanger, Aryan Montes, Kenzie Huey, Sophia Hoevel, Morgan DeHoff, Aubrey Millspaugh, Kamdyn Carter, Emily Dues, Hannah Laux, Zion Beiswanger, Josh Monroe, Eliza Bader, Vivienne Kunkler and Nico Minnich.
