MIDLAND, Mich. — Michael Curry tied the game with one swing of the bat in the fourth inning.

Xavier Edwards put the TinCaps on top an inning later, and the bullpen kept the league’s highest-scoring team in check as the Fort Wayne TinCaps rallied to beat the Great Lakes Loons 3-2 on Sunday at Dow Diamond.

It was the second consecutive come-from-behind win for the TinCaps (6-11, 39-46) against the Loons (7-10, 50-34), the Los Angeles Dodgers’ affiliate.

After surrendering a run in each of the first and third innings, Fort Wayne finally broke through in the fourth inning. Dwanya Williams-Sutton singled, and Curry hit a two-run blast to left field on an 0-1 offering from Robinson Ortiz. It was Curry’s fifth home run of the season and his first since June 25.

The TinCaps manufactured their eventual game-winning run in the fifth inning as Lee Solomon doubled to deep right-center field. Jawuan Harris moved him to third on a sacrifice bunt before Edwards bounced out to third base to score Solomon.

Edwards, whose .336 batting average leads the Midwest League, also doubled. Grant Little and Juan Fernandez singled for the TinCaps.

Great Lakes, which leads the MWL with 5.4 runs per game, didn’t manage to score off four members of the Fort Wayne bullpen. Adrian Martinez and Austin Smith both tossed two scoreless frames around a goose egg from Matt Brash. Henry Henry, who leads the league with seven wins, notched his team-leading seventh save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.

Brandon Komar, who was called up from the Arizona League Padres on Saturday, made his TinCap debut as the team’s starting pitcher. He allowed two earned runs on two hits with three strikeouts and a pair of walks. Komar surrendered a solo home run to Jacob Amaya in the third inning, which put Great Lakes on top 2-0 before the ’Caps rallied.

Fort Wayne will go for the sweep of Great Lakes at 7:05 p.m. tonight. Joey Cantillo, who on Wednesday earned MWL Player of the Month award for June, is the TinCaps’ probable starter. The 19-year-old Hawaiian has a league-leading 1.83 ERA over 69 innings. He is 6-2 with one complete game, has struck out 90 compared to 18 walks and boasts a 0.81 WHIP, which is also tops in the MWL.
