Anne Vormohr has her name plastered on the Jay County swimming record book.
On Feb. 28, she put her name among the best at Ball State.
Vormohr, a 2016 Jay County High School graduate, helped the Ball State University 200-yard freestyle relay team set a new school record during the second day of the Mid-American Conference Championships at Akron.
The junior joined Peighton Gilbert, Makenna Bottorff and Alexa McDonald to set a new Cardinal record with their time of 1 minute, 33.05 seconds, besting the 2014 record by 0.44 seconds. The quartet was seventh, with the host Zips taking the top spot with a meet-record 1:28.54.
Vormohr also anchored the 800 freestyle relay, which included cousin Sophie Bader, that finished seventh in 7:32.38, and the 400 freestyle relay that was also seventh in 3:25.32.
Individually, her 56.49 seconds was the seventh-best time in program history in the 100 backstroke as she placed 18th. She also set a career-best in the 200 backstroke, finishing 18th as well in 2:02.56. Vormohr was 27th in the 50 freestyle.
The Cardinals totaled 148 points for last out of eight teams, with host Akron taking the championship with 867 points.
Addie Wanner
South Adams – 2018
Earned a pair of top-eight finishes for the Louisville Cardinal women’s track team as it competed in the Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Championships Feb. 21 through 23 at Virginia Tech.
The freshman tied for fourth in the high jump with her height of 1.64 meters.
She was also eighth in the pentathlon with her score of 3,585 points. She was second in shot put (11.31 meters), fourth in high jump, sixth in 60-meter hurdles (8.96 seconds), ninth in long jump (5.22 meters) and 11th in the 800 run (2 minutes, 33.67 seconds).
The Cardinals were 10th out of 16 teams with 29 points. Virginia Tech and Florida State both scored 117 points, but the Hokies won the team championship.

Was second in scoring and first in rebounds for the University of Saint Francis women’s basketball team as it lost the NAIA Division II Championship Tournament opener on Wednesday in Sioux City, Iowa.
The sophomore finished with 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting while also splitting her four free throws. She hauled in five rebounds, two of which came on offense, as the No. 24 Cougars (20-13) fell to ninth-ranked Eastern Oregon 70-61.
In the Crossroads League Tournament semifinal against Taylor, a 63-58 loss on Feb. 22, Will had seven points, six rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Cole Stigleman
Jay County – 2018
Began his collegiate baseball career by reaching base in each of the first seven games of the season for the Kankakee Community College Cavaliers.
The freshman had a triple, a walk and two runs in his first game, a 12-3 loss Friday to John A. Logan. A day later he notched a single in a 9-1 loss to Olney Central.
On Saturday, also against Olney Central, Stigleman recorded two singles, the first multi-hit game of his career, and also swiped the first base of his career as well in a 10-4 loss.
Later that day he drew a walk and scored a run in a 9-4 win over Henry Ford.
He had two hits and two RBIs on Monday in a 13-3 win over St. Clair County, and another two hits, including a triple, with an RBI and a walk in a 13-12 setback to Lackawanna on Tuesday.
Also on Tuesday, Stigleman notched a single in a 10-0 loss to Penn State Dubois.
In seven games for the Cavaliers (3-5), the former Patriot has a .429 batting average with three RBIs, nine runs and a pair of stolen bases.

Went 3-3 in her singles and doubles action for the Trine University on its trip to Florida.
On Monday at USTA National Tennis Center in Orlando, Braun and Katie Simon teamed for an 8-0 shutout at No. 3 doubles against Alyssa Santarelli and Diana Rodriguez. In her No. 4 singles match, Braun defeated Santarelli 6-3, 6-3.
A day later in Alamonte Springs, Florida, against Coe College, Braun and Simon knocked off Ella White and Victoria Montoya 8-6, but Braun dropped her No. 3 singles match to Eliza Sundermann 6-4, 5-7, 10-5.
Back in Orlando on Wednesday, Braun and Simon lost to Megan Yates and Kristen Zink of Otterbein College 8-3, and Braun fell to Mariella Briones at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-3.

Clocked the third-fastest time in the 100-yard breaststroke for the Ball State University women’s swim team on Saturday in the MAC Championships.
Bader, a freshman, touched the wall in 1 minute, 3.69 seconds, as she was 14th. She also had a career-best time of 2:22.2 in the 200 breaststroke during which she was 25th.
She also tied for 29th in the 50 freestyle and joined sister Sophie in helping the 400 medley relay place eighth.

Had a career-best swim as her junior year for the Ball State women’s swim team came to a close in the Mid-American Conference Championships.
The junior finished 16th in the 200-yard butterfly, her best individual place for the meet, with a new career-best time of 2 minutes, 4.21 seconds.
In the 100 butterfly, Bader’s time of 56.08, which was 19th, cracked the top 10 in the history of the program as it was the ninth-fastest time by a Cardinal.
She was also 27th in the 200 individual medley.

South Adams – 2015
Had her swimming career come to a close on Feb. 23 for the Purdue Boilermakers in the Big Ten Conference Championships.
In her only event, the 200-yard breaststroke, the former Starfire had a time of 2 minutes, 16.9 seconds for 30th.
Indiana University’s Lilly King, who was a 2016 Olympic gold medalist in the 100-meter breaststroke, was the conference champion in 2:06.99.
Indiana won the team title with 1,386.5 points. Purdue finished sixth.
Reese Rogers
Fort Recovery – 2018
Made his collegiate debut for the Edison State Community College baseball team on Saturday in a doubleheader loss at Wright State-Lake Campus.
In a 5-3 loss to the Lakers, Rogers was hitless with a strikeout in three at bats.
The freshman pitched in the second game, allowing one hit over two innings of relief in a 3-2 setback for the Chargers (0-4).
