East Jay wins ACAC

MONROE — Four Chiefs were crowned individual champions.

The squad earned the team title as well.

East Jay Middle School’s wrestling team capped its season Saturday with four individual titles and the team championship in the Allen County Athletic Conference tournament at Adams Central.

The Chiefs, who had 10 wrestling in the finals, totaled 275.5 points. The host Jets were second with 249 points, and Bluffton totaled 200 points for third.

West Jay was last out of eight teams with 20 points.

Bradin Daniels (85 pounds), Tony Wood (90), Reed Brandenburg (132) and Bryce Wenk (160) each won the championship at their respective weight classes.

Landon Garringer (75), Cody Rowles (95), Landon Blowers (102), Cameron Clark (117), Tristin Stout (150) and Ricky Nava (220) were all runner-up.

Griffin Byrum and Nate Paxson both finished third, while Carter Link, AJ Myers and Conner Specht each placed fourth.

West Jay’s Caleb Weesner and Logan Orso both finished fifth at 110 and 117 pounds respectively.

Three take second

INDIANAPOLIS — Jay County Wrestling Club had three finish second in the Indiana State Wrestling Association Folkstyle State Finals on Saturday and Sunday at Warren Central High School.

Jay County totaled 47 points to finish 40th out of 169 scoring teams.

In the women’s tournament, Jay County had 24 points to place 24th out of 81 teams.

Lizzy Dollar and Dakota Chowning were both second for the JCWC girls. Dollar competed in the 94-to-100-pound Cadet weight class, while Chowning was a 110-pound Novice.

Lita Chowning and Danica Chowning were third and fourth respectively.

Bradin Daniels took second in the 87-pound schoolboy 14-and-younger weight class. Tony Wood and Cameron Clark both placed fourth, Tripp Haisley was seventh and Conner Specht finished eighth.

Also competing for the Jay County Wrestling Club were Carson Pfeifer, Max Myers, Memphis Torre, Grady Haisley, Leighton Brown, Silas Wenk, Xander Torre, Landon Garringer, Cody Rowles, Carter Barton, AJ Myers, Bryce Wenk and Reed Brandenburg.
