CONVOY, Ohio — The Tribe girls scored more than twice as much as any other team.
The boys were a distant fourth.
Fort Recovery High School’s girls track team opened its season on Thursday by finishing first in a four-team meet at Crestview.
The Indians totaled 113.16 points, more than double that of runner-up Crestview (53.5). Continental totaled 34.33 points to edge Cory Rawson (34 points).
In the boys meet, Crestview totaled 83.5 points for first, with Cory Rawson (64) and Continental (52) second and third respectively. Fort Recovery finished with 38.5 points for fourth.
Kierra Wendel and Elise Gehle were both dual winners for the FRHS girls. Wendel won the 100- and 400-meter dash events, while Gehle crossed the finish line ahead of the field in the 1,600 and 3,200 run.
Abbie Francis (200 dash), Chloe Will (800 run), Laura Hipple (high jump), Elena Evers (discus) and Whitley Rammel (shot put) each had individual wins as well.
Riley Pearson (110 hurdles) and Jared Timmerman (long jump) had the only wins for Fort Recovery’s boys.
Indians fall to Green Wave
GREENVILLE, Ohio — A rough second inning was too much to overcome on Thursday as the Fort Recovery junior varsity baseball team lost to the Greenville Green Wave, 16-6 in six innings.
The Indians (0-2), who committed five errors on the night, jumped out to a 5-3 lead after the first inning, but a five-run second gave the Green Wave a lead it never relinquished.
Fort Recovery got one run back in the top of the third inning to make it 8-6, but Greenville responded with six more runs in the home half of the inning.
A two-run sixth completed the run-rule win for the Green Wave.
Derek Lochtefeld was 2-for-4 with two doubles and a pair of RBIs for the Indians, who also got two single each from Peyton Brunswick and Sam Jones. Kendrick Wendel chipped in a double.

ST. HENRY, Ohio — Fort Recovery Middle School’s track teams both placed second on Thursday in a quad meet at St. Henry.
The FRMS girls scored 64 points, behind St. Henry (92.5 points) while ending ahead of Parkway (44) and New Knoxville (23.5).
St. Henry won the boys meet as well with 115 points. FRMS was second with 50.5 points, Parkway (29.5) third and New Knoxville (25) fourth.
Audra Guggenbiller, Sophie Pearson, Allysen Fullenkamp and Mara Pearson teamed to win the 4x100 and 4x200 relays. The 4x400 relay team of Abby Knapke, Megan Diller, Natalie Brunswick and Alexis Wendel was also first.
Brunswick (1,600 run) and Pearson (long jump) both had an individual win.
Bo Thien won the discus and shot put events, and Ross Pearson beat Lyndon Brinkerhoff for the top spot in the 200 dash.
