COLDWATER, Ohio — Robby LeFevre competed in four events in the Mercer County Meet.
He was a champion in each.
LeFevre had three individual wins and helped a relay take the top spot for the Fort Recovery High School boys track team as it was second in the two-day meet that concluded Thursday.
After not scoring points after the first day on Tuesday, the Indians totaled 113 points, which was runner-up to Marion Local’s 140.
Coldwater won the girls’ team title with 159 points. Fort Recovery was fourth with 74 points.
LeFevre won the championship in the 100- and 200-meter dash races in 11.39 seconds and 22.79 seconds respectively. He also won the 300 hurdles in 41.18 seconds.
The 4x100 relay team of Riley Pearson, Riley Hiser, Jared Timmerman and LeFevre took first with their combined time of 45.38 seconds.
Drew Muhlenkamp (400 dash – 51.59 seconds) and Pearson (110 hurdles – 16.54 seconds) also had individual wins. Fort Recovery’s 4x200 relay team of Owen Moorman, Jacob Acheson, Pearson and Muhlenkamp was victorious as well in 1 minute, 33.74 seconds.
Kierra Wendel had the lone win for the FRHS girls, crossing the finish line in the 800 run in 2:27.19.
Wenning homers in win
VERSAILLES, Ohio — Lydia Wenning added to her home run record on Thursday as the Fort Recovery softball team knocked off the Versailles Tigers, 7-4.
In a game that was moved from Fort Recovery, the Indians (11-10, 3-3 Midwest Athletic Conference) scored three times in the home half of the first inning, and extended the lead with Wenning’s two-run home run in the fifth. It was her ninth of the season, which is a school record. Her 11 career home runs are also the most in school history.
Versailles (8-9, 4-2 MAC) broke the shutout with a four-run sixth inning, trimming the margin to just 5-4. But two more runs in the bottom of the same frame provided the Indians with enough insurance for the win.
Wenning finished with a team-high three RBIs. Jackie Homan had two doubles and two RBIs, and Brenna Homan doubled and singled. Kim Hart smacked a double as well.
Jackie Homan allowed four unearned runs on five hits. She struck out five and walked a pair.
Early deficit haunts Tribe
VERSAILLES, Ohio — An early deficit haunted the Fort Recovery baseball team on Thursday in a 5-3 loss to the host Versailles Tigers.
The Tigers (11-6, 5-3 Midwest Athletic Conference) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, and scored three times one inning later thanks to three singles, a pair of walks and an error. Versailles pushed the score to 5-0 in the fourth inning.
Fort Recovery got on the board with an RBI single from Ryne Post in the sixth, and Joe Homan singled him home for the second run in the same frame. The Tribe (9-8, 4-4 MAC) pulled within one, 5-3, on a Post single in the seventh.
Riley Post chipped in two singles, while Kody Shinabery and Cobe Wendel singled as well.
Homan took the loss, allowing four runs — three earned — on four hits in 2 1/3 innings. He issued one walk.
