TROY, Ohio — Jared Timmerman is going to state.
The Indian girls have a relay going as well.
They’re primed to have others join them, too.
Timmerman took fourth in the long jump and the Tribe girls’ 4x800-meter relay had the same place to gain state berths for the Fort Recovery High School track and field teams during the first day of the OHSAA Division III regional meet Wednesday at Troy High School.
The top four places in each event advance to the state finals, set for May 31 and June 1 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of Ohio State University in Columbus.
The FRHS boys, who last week won the program’s first district championship in program history, are in a five-way tie for 12th place with five points after the first day of the meet. They gained the top seed in five events as the meet continues at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Ansonia leads the way with 18 team points.
Fort Recovery’s girls sit fifth with nine points. Fort Loramie and Springfield Catholic Central share the lead with 14 points.
Timmerman had a jump of 20 feet, 5.25 inches, to place fourth and account for all of the Tribe team points thus far. He also placed 11th in the 100-meter dash, and is part of two top-seeded relays.
The 4x100 relay team of Riley Pearson, Brayden Schoen, Robby LeFevre and Timmerman had a preliminary time of 44.35 seconds to grab the No. 1 seed. Owen Moorman, Jacob Acheson, Drew Muhlenkamp and Timmerman are seeded first in the 4x400 relay with their time of 3 minutes, 26.8 seconds.

Kierra Wendel, Cassy Martin, Ava Bubp and Chloe Will ran to a school-record time of 9:49.04 in the 4x800 relay to place fourth and qualify for the state finals.
