FINDLAY, Ohio — The special season for a Tribe sophomore has come to an end.

Jalyn Bruns, a Fort Recovery High School sophomore, had her golf season end Monday in the Division II Northwest District golf tournament at Sycamore Springs Golf Course.

Bruns shot 91 to finish in a five-way tie for 20th overall. The top four teams and top four individuals not on advancing squads qualify for the state finals, which will be Oct. 11 and 12 at The Ohio State University Gray Course in Columbus.

The FRHS sophomore ended the front nine with 39, which was good enough for eighth place. But on the back she shot 52 to come to her final score.

This season, Bruns set the school record for 9- and 18-hole matches with scores of 39 and 83, respectively.

Lima Central Catholic shot 334 to win the district championship. Huron (367) and St. Henry (371) were second and third to reach the state finals.

Ellen Naumann of St. Henry shot 71 to win the individual championship.


Kyleigh Dull (71) of Lakota, Sydney Lyerle of Gibsonberg, Kenadie Daeger (84) of Wayne Trace and Grace Miller (85) of Kalida advanced as individuals.



FR freshmen fall

FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery’s freshman volleyball team fell to the Marion Local Flyers on Monday, 26-24, 25-16.

Brooklyn Jutte and Sophie Pearson had three kills each to lead the Indians (8-2). Amy Stammen had a team-high seven digs, while Jutte chipped in five digs. Allysen Fullenkamp and Pearson had two aces each. Faith Wendel recorded five assists.
