Rejoice, Patriot fans.
Fans will be permitted, though limited, for Jay County sporting events at Adams County schools.
Adams County Health Officer Dr. Michael Ainsworth announced this morning restrictions have been eased for fans at fall sporting events for Adams County schools — Adams Central, Bellmont and South Adams.
“The Adams County Health Officer, Dr. Ainsworth, has graciously given all three Adams County schools the ability to allow additional parents at middle school and high school events,” South Adams athletics director Jason Arnold said via the school’s Facebook page.
The change will go into effect Monday. Each rostered senior will be provided four tickets and all underclassmen will be given two tickets for every home event.
Middle school teams will have the ability to have two parents at each home contest.
“The intended use of these tickets is for parents (and) guardians or other adult family members to be in attendance at home games,” Arnold said in his statement. “Community members are being asked to refrain from congregating along fence lines to watch the contests at all outdoor venues.”
Additionally, each visiting school will be allowed two tickets per athlete for parents or guardians.
This change comes more than three weeks after Ainsworth made a directive for Adams County schools to only permit family members of senior parents to attend home events and prohibited any visiting fans from outside the county.
As a result, Adams Central, Bellmont and South Adams will be charging admission to these events. Adams Central and South Adams will charge $6 for all varsity contests and $5 for junior varsity and middle school contests. All events at Bellmont High School are $5, and $4 for Bellmont Middle School events.
Ticket procedures are specific to each school.
