MONROE — The Patriots won both matches easily Friday.

After finally being challenged — but coming out on top — first thing Saturday morning, they cruised to the title.

A year after placing fourth, the Jay County High School wrestling team wrapped up the 2020 Allen County Athletic Conference Duals championship Saturday with a perfect 6-0 record over the two-day tournament.

The Patriots (14-1) beat South Adams and Woodlan by 63-18 and 72-6 scores, respectively, on Friday.

Saturday morning, they held off Adams Central (42-30) before getting wins against Heritage (72-12), Southern Wells (84-0) and Bluffton (58-18).

Cody Rowles, Taye Curtis, Ramon Bravo and Peyton Bennett all went 6-0 on the day. Bennett, a 285-pounder, won three matches by pin totaling just 2:38. His other three wins were by forfeit.

Jayden Maymi was 2-0.

Ethan Reiley, Tony Wood, R.J. Heskett, Cameron Gage, Nate Paxson and Bryce Wenk were all 5-1 for the tournament. Paxson earned the team’s fastest pin, beating Chris Kramer of Bluffton in their 170-pound match in 38 seconds.

Swimmers win two
