BERNE — The Indians lost a head-to-head matchup in their opening meet of the season.
They haven’t dropped another since.
Fort Recovery High School’s girls swim team added two more victories Tuesday night as it scored 121 points to finish ahead of host South Adams (65) and Minster (28) in a three-team meet.
The Tribe boys scored 38 to trailed South Adams (94) and Minster (81).
The FRHS girls, who are now 9-1, won all three relays Tuesday and got a pair of individual wins from Ava Bubp. She topped the field in both the 100-yard butterfly and 100 backstroke.
Other individual victories came from Shelby Stammen (200 freestyle), Audra Bubp (200 individual medley), Paige Fortkamp (50 freestyle), Autumn Burk (diving) and Kyra Clark (500 freestyle).
The winning streak included victories over Delta, Hagerstown, Van Wert, Marion Local (twice) and St. Mary’s prior to Tuesday.
JC swimmers win
DECATUR — The Jay County High School boys swim team picked up its first win of the season Tuesday by a 98-78 score over host Bellmont. The girls team won 118-62.
Chase McFarland and Kyle Sanders led the Patriot boys (1-6) to the victory with two individual wins apiece. McFarland was first with times of 1 minutes, 5.93 seconds, in the 100 butterfly and 1:07.45 in the 100 backstroke while Sanders swept the freestyle sprints in 24.94 and 55.05.
Griffin Mann added a victory in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.96.
Ashlyn Dow (200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke), Eliza Bader (100 freestyle, 100 backstroke) and Mara Bader (200 individual medley, 500 freestyle) each won a pair of events for the girls team (6-1).
Eagles split
HARTFORD CITY — West Jay Middle School’s seventh grade boys basketball team climbed back to .500 Tuesday with a 43-15 win over host Blackford. The eighth graders fell 40-24.
Ben Crouch outscored the entire Blackford squad in the seventh grade game, leading the Eagles (4-4) with 17 points. Keegan Wasson followed with eight points, and Eli Goodspeed scored seven points.
Parker Nichols reached double figures with 11 points for the eighth graders (5-3). Jackson Edwards added six points.
Games moved
The final games between East Jay and West Jay middle schools in boys and girls basketball will be played at Jay County High School.
The last boys basketball game between the Eagles and Chiefs before seventh and eighth graders will shift to what will be Jay County Junior-Senior High School next year is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at JCHS. The final girls game will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
