Kendal Garringer didn’t waste any time making an impact during her collegiate career. She jumped right in.
The 2019 Jay County High School graduate finished second and third in her events Saturday in her first meet as a member of the Manchester University women’s track team at Trine’s Sean Brady / Keith Turner Alumni Open.
In her opening effort in the triple jump, Garringer recorded a distance of 29 feet, 2.5 inches. She was the runner-up to St. Francis junior Emily Bluhm (31 feet, 6.5 inches).
Her third-place finish came in the high jump, where she was one of three competitors to finish at 4 feet, 9.75 inches. She had cleared every height to that point on her first attempt, giving her the No. 3 spot in the event.
Garringer’s effort helped the Spartans to a second-place finish among eight scoring teams.
Elise Gehle, a 2019 Fort Recovery graduate, also competed at the meet, placing 10th in the mile run for the University of St. Francis in 6 minutes, 5.1 seconds. The Cougars finished fourth as a team.
Hanna Ault
Jay County – 2018
Scored 15 points Saturday for the Anderson University women’s basketball team in its 68-62 loss to Franklin.
Ault hit a trio of 3-pointers and all of her free throws to finish as the No. 2 scorer for the Ravens (5-9). She also had five rebounds, one steal and one assist.
The sophomore had four rebounds in Wednesday’s 47-39 loss to Rose-Hulman.
Jocelyn Kaiser

Was the No. 3 scorer for the Capital University women’s basketball team Wednesday in its 84-66 loss to Marietta.
Kaiser shot 3-of-5 from the field with a 3-pointer to tally 11 points for the Crusaders (8-6). She also had one assist.
Michaiah Cox
Fort Recovery – 2017
Finished as one of seven players with eight or more points for the Defiance College men’s basketball team Wednesday in its 99-83 win over Manchester.
Cox shot 3-of-4 from the field and made all of his three free throws for nine points. He also grabbed six rebounds for the Yellowjackets (8-6).
Tyler Leonhard

Earned one of four individual wins for the Manchester College wrestling team Saturday in its 35-16 loss to Mount St. Joseph.
Leonhard (165) knocked off Eric Fomekong 7-2 to pull the Spartans to within 18-10. But Manchester dropped the next three matches en route to the defeat.
Robbie LeFevre

Contributed to a fourth-place relay finish for the Fordham University men’s track team Saturday as it hosted the Robert Elkin Invitational.
LeFevre joined Michael Capone, Chase Krug and Eric Jacobson for fourth place in the 4x400-meter relay in 3 minutes, 36 seconds. He was also 10th with a time of 7.25 in the 60 dash.
Whitney Will

Gave the NAIA No. 13 University of St. Francis women’s basketball team some key minutes off the bench Wednesday in its 73-66 victory over Mt. Vernon Nazarene.
Will played 18 minutes, going 2-of-3 from the field and 2-of-2 at the line for six points. She also recorded four rebounds, two blocks and an assist.
The junior had four points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Cougars (14-4) in Saturday’s 63-56 win over Grace.
