Fort Recovery High School’s girls basketball team stifled host South Adams on Tuesday for a 54-25 victory.
It marked the 10th time this season the Tribe has held an opponent to fewer than 40 points.
The Indians (11-3), who limited New Knoxville to 28 points in their previous win Thursday, held South Adams (9-9) to six or fewer points in each of the first three quarters. That included a 19-2 advantage in the third quarter to build an insurmountable 44-13 lead.
Val Muhlenkamp and Alli Vaughn each scored a dozen points to lead Fort Recovery, which will host Coldwater on Thursday. Kierra Wendel followed with 10 points.
Kristen Wynn led South Adams with nine points.
No. 4 tops Patriots
OSSIAN — The Jay County girls basketball team could not keep up with the Class 3A No. 4 Norwell Knights as it fell 79-44 Tuesday.
The host Knights (15-4) racked up 25 points in each of the first two quarters to build a 28-point halftime lead.
It was the most lopsided loss of the season for JCHS (11-8), surpassing the 72-51 defeat to Winchester.
Renna Schwieterman’s 12 points and seven rebounds led the way for the Patriots, who will visit Delta on Thursday. Madison Dirksen joined her in double figures with 10 points, and Izzy Rodgers added seven points.
Jay County dropped the junior varsity game 52-25. Maddy Wenk had 13 points for the Patriots.
FR girls win two
MUNCIE — Fort Recovery’s girls swim team added two more victories Tuesday, improving to 11-1 in dual meets as it topped the host Delta Eagles 53-45 and Muncie Burris 67-31.
The boys team lost 86-8 to Delta and 71-25 to Burris.
Kyra Clark and Ava Bubp each won a couple of events to lead the Tribe girls, with the former taking the top spot in the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 33.4 seconds, and the 100 backstroke in 1:07.93. Bubp’s victories came with times of 2:07.75 in the 200 freestyle and 1:05.7 in the 100 butterfly.
Shelby Stammen added a win in the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.04. Fort Recovery was also first in the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay.
The top effort from the boys team came from Josh Gonzalez, who was the runner-up in the 50 freestyle.

SELMA — The Jay County freshman boys basketball team couldn’t keep up with its host Tuesday in a 44-25 loss to the Wapahani Raiders.
The Patriots fell behind 26-13 at halftime. They scored 10 points in the third quarter, but still saw their deficit jump to 18 on the way to the loss.
Blake Bogenschutz hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 11 points to lead JCHS. Josh Dowlen followed with eight points.
