The Indians’ defense has opponents on lockdown.

Fort Recovery High School’s girls basketball team stifled host South Adams on Tuesday for a 54-25 victory.

It marked the 10th time this season the Tribe has held an opponent to fewer than 40 points.

The Indians (11-3), who limited New Knoxville to 28 points in their previous win Thursday, held South Adams (9-9) to six or fewer points in each of the first three quarters. That included a 19-2 advantage in the third quarter to build an insurmountable 44-13 lead.

Val Muhlenkamp and Alli Vaughn each scored a dozen points to lead Fort Recovery, which will host Coldwater on Thursday. Kierra Wendel followed with 10 points.

Kristen Wynn led South Adams with nine points.

The host Knights (15-4) racked up 25 points in each of the first two quarters to build a 28-point halftime lead.

It was the most lopsided loss of the season for JCHS (11-8), surpassing the 72-51 defeat to Winchester.

Renna Schwieterman’s 12 points and seven rebounds led the way for the Patriots, who will visit Delta on Thursday. Madison Dirksen joined her in double figures with 10 points, and Izzy Rodgers added seven points.

Jay County dropped the junior varsity game 52-25. Maddy Wenk had 13 points for the Patriots.

Bubp’s victories came with times of 2:07.75 in the 200 freestyle and 1:05.7 in the 100 butterfly.
