ST. MARYS, Ohio — The Indians had a tough time with Austin Parks in the first quarter.
Brandon Bowers gave them fits in the second. They couldn’t stop Jaden Davis after halftime.
Fort Recovery High School’s boys basketball team opened its 2020-21 campaign Friday with a 53-45 loss to the St. Marys Memorial Roughriders.
Parks scored five points in the first quarter, helping the Roughriders (1-0) jump out front of Fort Recovery (0-1) by a 14-9 margin. Bowers scored six of St. Marys’ 14 points in the second quarter as the Indians made up most of the deficit but went into halftime down by two, 28-26.
But that’s when Davis, who scored a game-high 18 points, took over by putting in 11 points over the final two quarters.
LaTrey Williams ended with 12 points for St. Marys, and Bowers joined him and Davis in double figures with 11 points.
Cale Rammel was the leading scorer in a balanced Fort Recovery effort. He had 13 points, seven of which came in the fourth quarter.
