Four players shot in the 40s on Monday, leading the Fort Recovery High School boys golf team to a 176-204 victory against the New Knoxville Rangers at Portland Golf Course.
Eli Lennartz shot a career-best 41 to earn match medalist honors. Alex Dues was second with 43, and Cole Muhlenkamp had 44. Zander Kunkler and Gavin Faller each shot 48 to complete the team score.
Isaac LeFevre also competed for Fort Recovery, but his round of 51 was not a factor in the team score.
The Indians move to 1-4 (1-2 Midwest Athletic Conference) with the win.
Spikers win
NEW PARIS, Ohio — The Fort Recovery volleyball team opened its 2021 campaign Monday with a sweep of the host National Trail Blazers, 25-10, 25-10, 25-8.
Whitley Rammel and Marissa Gaerke had six kills each to lead the Tribe, which also got six kills from Grace Guggenbiller and two each from Teigen Fortkamp and Mara Pearson.
Gaerke also had six digs, and Audra Bubp finished with a half dozen aces. Guggenbiller and Rammel capped their day with three blocks apiece. Faith Wendel recorded 11 assists while Fortkamp ended with eight helpers.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team beat the Blazers, 25-6, 25-8. Kensey Gaerke had four kills and Paige Guggenbiller tallied three kills. Chloe Bubp finished with eight aces.
Girls fall
MINSTER, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s girls golf team fell to 4-2 on the season with a 192-231 loss to Fort Loramie on Saturday at Arrowhead Golf Course.
The Indians were led by a 48 from Jalyn Bruns. Paige Bihn and Shelby Acheson each had scores of 60, while Kim Hart completed the team total with her round of 63.
Macy Brunswick (65) and Brynn Stammen (70) also competed, but they did not factor into the team total.
Eva Boling of Fort Loramie earned match medalist honors by shooting 43.
