FORT RECOVERY — The scores were close, but the overall match was not.
Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team swept the St. Marys Memorial Roughriders on Tuesday, 25-19, 25-23, 25-23.
Whitley Rammel and Marissa Gaerke paced the offense for Fort Recovery (2-0) with 12 and 10 kills, respectively, while Grace Guggenbiller chipped in eight kills. Rammel also tallied five blocks and four aces, as Guggenbiller and Gaerke recorded four and two blocks, respectively. Teigen Fortkamp also helped defensively with four blocks, while she and Faith Wendel notched 15 assists apiece.
Gaerke turned in a team-best 12 digs.
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity team also won, 25-17, 25-19. Grace Klingshirn totaled seven kills, Autumn Jutte ended with five kills and Allysen Fullenkamp finished with four kills. Kensey Gaerke notched nine digs, and Kennedy Muhlenkamp added 14 assists.
Tribe tops Knights
VAN WERT, Ohio — The Fort Recovery girls golf team moved to 5-2 on the season Tuesday by beating the host Crestview Knights 198-259 at Hickory Sticks Golf Club.
Jalyn Bruns shot 41 to lead the Indians. Macy Brunswick shot 47 for the team’s second-best score, and Paige Bihn was fourth with 53. Shelby Acheson rounded out the team total with her round of 57.
Kim Hart (59) and Alaina Will (60) also competed, but did not factor into the team score.
Boys beat Cavs
SIDNEY, Ohio — The Fort Recovery boys golf team once again shot a season-low score in its 175-206 win against the Lehman Catholic Cavaliers on Tuesday at Shelby Oaks Golf Club.
It bested the team’s previous season-best score by one stroke it set a day earlier.
Eli Lennartz was match medalist with his round of 41. Zander Kunkler and Isaac LeFevre were one stroke behind with their matching scores of 42. Gavin Faller shot 50 to round out the team total.
Cole Muhlenkamp (54) and Alex Dues (63) competed as well, but their scores were not a factor into the overall score.
