DECATUR — Raif Beiswanger and Alexis Sibray both placed in the top 10.

Beiswanger took seventh overall and Sibray was 10th as the Jay County Junior High cross country teams opened their season at the Bellmont Conditioner on Thursday.

Riverview’s boys scored 69 points for first place, and host Bellmont was two points behind in second place. Norwell ended with 79 points for third. Jay County, which scored 138 points, was seventh.

Norwell won the girls’ race with 19 points. followed by Crestview (94) and Riverview (109). Jay County did not have enough for a team score.

Beiswanger raced to a time of 7 minutes, 30 seconds, as the lead Patriot runner. Beckett Brandenburg placed 12th, and Douglas Cox took 35th. Max Klopfenstein finished 40th, while Rockland Beiswanger completed the team total by ending 50th.

Seth Bee (55th) and William Hawbaker (57) also ran for Jay County.

Alexis Sibray was the top Patriot girl; with her time of 8:36. Emily Young finished 17th, and Paityn Wendel finished 21st. Kaitlyn Fisher ended her first junior high race in 43rd.
