Jay 8th runs by Raiders on road
Forthofer leads team by outscoring Southern Wells by himself
PONETO — Cole Forthofer didn’t really need his teammates.
They helped in the rout anyway.
Forthofer scored more points than the Raiders, leading the Jay County Junior High School eighth grade boys basketball team to a 65-10 victory against host Southern Wells on Thursday.
The Patriot seventh graders won as well, 33-19.
Jay County’s eighth graders jumped out to an 18-2 lead after the first quarter and were ahead 37-2 at halftime. Forthofer finished with 12 points, while Carter Fugiett matched the Raider effort with 10 points.
Jayden Comer scored 14 points to lead all players in the seventh grade game, which saw the Patriots ahead of the Raiders 11-0 at the end of the first quarter. Joe Geesaman and Brock Wasson chipped in six points apiece in the victory.
