Rockets 1-3 on weekend
Local roundup
SOUTH BEND and FORT WAYNE — For the second consecutive weekend, the Rockets started with a win.
It was their only one.

On a blistering hot day in South Bend, the Rockets (3-10) trailed 2-1 late in the opener Saturday. But they pulled even on a Chandler Locke home run en route to the win.
Pete Smith finished the game in relief of Chandler Jacks — the Jay County High School graduate went four innings — and former Major League Keith Shepherd. Portland recorded three double plays in the win, including a couple on outfield assists from Jared Holley.
Zach Tanner and Locke each had four hits on the weekend.
