Alex Bader beat her competitors often as a Patriot.
She’s getting victories as a Cardinal now, too.
Bader, a 2018 Jay County High School graduate, had two individual wins and helped a winning relay recently for the Ball State University women’s swim team.
In a 172-128 victory against Toledo on Saturday, Bader had a time of 1 minute, 4.2 seconds, for first place in the 100-yard breaststroke. At the same meet, she was second in the 200 breaststroke and fifth in the 200 individual medley while helping the 400 medley relay team take second.
During an Oct. 30 loss to Ohio (153-147), Bader posted a time of 1:04.65 to win the 100 breaststroke again. She was part of the 200 medley relay team that was also first in 1:44.76. The same day she was fourth in the 200 breaststroke.

Had nine or more carries in each of the last two games for the University of Saint Francis football team.
The redshirt junior had 67 yards and a touchdown on 14 rushes in a 42-31 victory against Taylor University on Oct. 30. He had a 1-yard TD run 32 seconds into the fourth quarter, which gave the Cougars (3-5) a 34-24 lead. He also had one reception.
A week later, the former Indian compiled 27 yards on nine carries while adding three catches for 14 yards in a 31-28 loss Saturday to Lawrence Tech.

Scored for the Ohio Northern University men’s cross country team as it competed in the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on Oct. 30 in Wilmington, Ohio.
The senior had a time of 26 minutes, 48.9 seconds, for 33rd overall in the 8K race. He was the fifth-best runner for the Polar Bears, who had five men finish in consecutive order from 31st to 35th.
Alex Philip of John Carroll was the race winner in 24:07.8. John Carroll won the league title with 25 points. Sutter and ONU scored 125 for fifth.
Alli Vaughn

Reached double figures in back-to-back games for the Huntington University women’s basketball team recently.
The freshman totaled double-digit scoring mark with 13 points in a 68-58 win against Cornerstone on Oct. 30. She was 3-of-5 from the field, including one 3-pointer, and went 6-of-9 from the free-throw line in the win. Three days later, she totaled 13 points again in a 71-55 win against Oakland City. She hit another triple on her way to 6-of-10 shooting for the Foresters (2-3)
In her collegiate debut Oct. 27 against Indiana Tech, Vaughn made both of her free throws and ended with five points.

Scored in her collegiate debut for the Edison State Chargers on Saturday in a 103-61 win against Henry Ford College.
The freshman played 11 minutes off the bench and split both of her free throw attempts in the win.
On Wednesday, the former Indian only missed one shot in scoring a career-high eight points.
She was 2-for-3 from the 3-point line and two shots from the free-throw line as the Chargers (2-0) defeated Miami University-Middletown 124-59.

Ran for the Tiffin University women’s cross country team in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Angel Mounds in Evansville.
Will ended the 6K race in 24 minutes, 0.6 seconds, which was 142nd overall and third for the Dragons.
Tiffin totaled 643 points for 21st out of 30 scoring teams. Grand Valley State University placed four in the top nine and had 40 points for the win.
Anhely Montes
Jay County – 2020
Scored the second goal of the season in the final game of the year for the Anderson University women’s soccer team Oct. 30 against Transylvania.
The sophomore found twine on her only shot of the game, scoring in the 86th minute on an assist from Kylie Roberts. The Ravens (7-8-2) were down 2-0 at that point and lost 2-1.
Montes played in all but one of the Ravens’ 17 games, and had two goals and a pair of assists. She had 15 shots, nine of which were on frame.
Chloe Trissel
Jay County – 2018
Turned in a season-high in digs for the Indiana University-Kokomo women’s volleyball team in a 3-0 victory Nov. 2 against Oakland City University.
The senior had 10 digs, which were second on the team and seven more than any other match this season.
Trissel has appeared in 27 sets for the Cougars (25-8), who ended the regular season on a 14-match winning streak. Trissel has recorded 27 digs, four assists, three aces and one kill.
Paige Fortkamp
Fort Recovery – 2021
Posted a match-high 16 kills for the University of Saint Francis volleyball team in the season finale Oct. 30, a 3-0 loss to Taylor University.
Forktamp led all players in total attacks (32) and kills, while also adding three digs and a block for the Cougars (6-23).
The freshman finished the year with a team-high 366 kills, 137 more than her closest teammate. She totaled 57 digs, 36 total blocks, 11 aces and four assists.
Vivienne Kunkler

Earned a pair of NAIA ‘B’ cuts for the Bethel University women’s swim team during a quad meet Oct. 30 with Olivet Nazarene, Lincoln College and DePauw.
She was third in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1 minute, 8.99 seconds, for her first NAIA standard.
Her second came in the 200 breaststroke as she was sixth in 2:33.63.
Kunkler helped the 400 medley relay finish third, and the 400 freestyle relay take fifth.

The freshman was fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with her time of 1 minute, 1.13 seconds.
