MUNCIE — A Patriot senior showed out in her final regular season game.
Mara Bader scored three times Thursday to lead the Jay County High School girls soccer team past the Muncie Central Bearcats, 4-0.
The win moves the Patriots to 8-4-1 on the year before Tuesday’s sectional opener.
Bader, who now leads the team with 16 goals, notched her ninth career multi-goal game and her third hat trick this season.
Jenna Dues, another senior, tallied the first goal of her career.
Tricia Ison finished with one save for the Patriots, who open sectional play at 5 p.m. Tuesday against New Castle at Hamilton Heights.
Fort boys 7th
HERROD, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s boys golf team had its season end Thursday with a seventh-place finish in the OHSAA Division III sectional tournament at Colonial Golfers Club.
Minster shot 321 to earn the team championship, with Lincolnview (336) as the runner-up and St. Henry (348) third.
The Indians ended with 368 for seventh out of 13 scoring teams.
Eli Lennartz had a career-best 88 to lead the Tribe, while Zander Kunkler was second on the squad with 90. Cole Muhlenkamp shot 92, and Issac LeFevre rounded out the team score with 98. Carson Siefring also competed, but his score of 99 did not factor into the overall team score.
Cavs beat Tribe
COLDWATER, Ohio — The Coldwater Cavaliers handed the Fort Recovery volleyball team a 25-17, 21-25, 25-15, 25-20 loss on Thursday at The Palace.
The loss drops the Indians, who finished 16th in the most recent Division IV coaches poll, to 7-7 (3-3 Midwest Athletic Conference).
Coldwater, the top-ranked team in Division III, moved to 16-2 (5-2 MAC).
Stats from the game were not provided.
Brothers lead Jay
A set of brothers accounted for the lone goal as the Jay County boys soccer team earned a 1-0 victory against Liberty Christian on Thursday.
Dylan Marentes, a freshman, assisted on senior brother Cristian’s goal after the Patriots (7-4-1) and the Lions played to a scoreless first half.
Ian Ruiz made four saves.

Jay County Junior High School’s eighth grade volleyball team lost to Heritage on Thursday, 25-19, 25-21.
Kayla Jetmore posted team highs for Jay County in points (nine) and aces (five), while Kendel Rowles and Maria Hemmelgarn had three kills apiece. Lani Muhlenkamp ended with four assists.
