Jay County High School’s volleyball team fell to the Heritage Patriots 25-11, 25-11, 25-16 Thursday in its last home match.
Jay County ended its Allen County Athletic Conference slate 3-3, and fell to 9-12 overall.
Heritage, which won the conference tournament on Saturday, moved to 20-4 in going a perfect 6-0 against foes during the regular season.
Abbie Fields posted six kills to lead JCHS, which got three kills apiece from Madison Brunswick and Madison Dirksen.
Brenna Haines was 9-of-10 from the service line, and also had a team-best 14 digs. Grace Brewster finished with 10 digs while she and Izzy Rodgers were 7-of-7 serving. Rodgers had 11 assists as well.
Jay County’s junior varsity team got a 13-25, 25-21, 25-7 victory. Bella Denton paced the offense with 10 kills, and Maggie Dillon had seven kills to go with her team high of 10 digs. Dillon also had 13 service points.
Boggs, Jay take 1st
CENTERVILLE — Joseph Boggs picked up another win in leading the Jay County Junior High School boys cross country team to a first place finish on Thursday at Centerville.
Jay County totaled 31 points, while Centerville (37) was runner-up and Winchester (58) placed third.
Centerville's girls won with 24 points, one ahead of Winchester. Jay County did not have enough runners for a team total.
Boggs won with his time of 11 minutes, 1 second, and Raif Beiswanger was 35 seconds behind in second place. Beckett Brandenburg (12:31) was seventh, Rocky Beiswanger (13:05) ended 10th and Dougie Cox (13:08) finished 11th.
Alexis Sibray was runner-up in 12:59 for the Jay County girls. Emily Young (13:43) and Paityn Wendel (13:44) were back-to-back in fifth and sixth, respectively. Kaitlyn Fisher placed eighth in 14:15.
