MARIA STEIN, Ohio — Midwest Athletic Conference play had not been kind to the Indians.

A visit to the top-ranked team in Division VII did not help that pattern.

Fort Recovery High School’s football team struggled to find any offense Friday night as they suffered a 30-0 loss to the Division VII No. 1 Marion Local Flyers.

The Indians (2-5, 0-5 MAC), who have now been outscored 176-25 in conference play, managed just 105 yards of total offense. They punted seven times, including on each of their first six possessions.

Marion Local (7-0, 5-0 MAC), meanwhile, scored on three of its first four possessions, getting the only points it would really need on an 8-yard TD run by Dylan Fleck less than four minutes into the game. Peyton Otte scored on a 43-yard TD run a few minutes later, and an Otte 18-yard touchdown pass to Aiden Eifert on the opening play of the second quarter made it 22-0.

The Flyers got their final score on a Peyton Moeller 9-yard run late in the third quarter.

Otte led the offense as he went 7-of-13 passes for 82 yards and added 60 rushing yards on five carries.

Moeller totalled 69 yards on 15 rushing attempts.

Cale Rammel had 67 yards on 8-of-20 passing for Fort Recovery while being sacked four times and tossing one interception. Ethan Hartnagel had 27 yards on three rushing attempts and Chase Kaiser had 21 yards on five carries.

It was the second shutout victory in a row and third on the season for Marion Local, which blanked St. John’s 35-0 last week and also topped McComb 10-0.

The Indians, who were 12th in the Division VI Region 24 computer rankings this week (the top 16 will make the playoffs this year), will hope to get back on track as they return home for their next two games against Parkway (1-6) and St. John’s (2-5) before closing the season at Division VII No. 9 New Bremen (5-2).
