Last week at New Bremen: Fort Recovery was overmatched against the defending Division VII state champion Cardinals in a 34-8 loss. The Indians were out-gained 338-180. Troy Homan broke the shutout for the Tribe, catching a 19-yard touchdown pass from Cale Rammel on the first play of the fourth quarter. Homan ended with 59 receiving yards. Riley Hiser and Ethan Hartnagle had 29 rushing yards each.

Season leaders: Passing — Cale Rammel – 84-of-172 for 942 yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions Rushing — Riley Hiser – 200 carries for 1,018 yards and eight touchdowns. Receiving — Reece Guggenbiller – 21 catches for 342 yards and one touchdown. Defense — Caleb Evers – 64 tackles, three tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one sack.

Arcanum Trojans

Arcanum, 8-2

Coach: Jason Schondelmeyer, 12th year

Conference: Western Ohio

Last week vs. Bradford: Bryce Schondelmeyer threw for five touchdowns and ran for another in the Trojans’ 47-18 drubbing of the Bradford Railroaders. Schondelmeyer completed 18 of his 23 pass attempts for 325 yards and added 89 more on the ground. Zade Shank caught four passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns, including a 75-yard TD.

Season leaders: Passing — Bryce Schondelmeyer – 204-of-343 for 3,047 yards, 43 touchdowns and four interceptions. Rushing — Bryce Schondelmeyer – 118 carries for 701 yards and 10 touchdowns. Receiving — Brennen Troutwine – 54 catches for 797 yards and 15 touchdowns. Defense — Jacob Rayburn – 96 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack and one fumble recovery.



Game notes: This is the first meeting all time between Fort Recovery, the No. 14 seed, and third-seeded Arcanum ... Winner advances to the Division VI Region 24 quarterfinal against either No. 6 seed Northeastern (Springfield) or No. 11 seed Anna ... Fort Recovery is making its fifth playoff appearance — the first since 2017 — not including the all-inclusive format in 2020. Arcanum last qualified for the playoffs in 2005 ... Fort Recovery is one of the 79 teams (out of 448 total) to qualify for the OHSAA playoffs with a losing record ... Arcanum, which is competing in the Western Ohio Athletic Conference’s inaugural season, won its first six games of the season before losing back-to-back games. The Trojans, who are 5-0 at home this year, finished third in the WOAC ... Arcanum junior Bryce Schondelmeyer, who wears uniform No. 44 and is the son of head coach Jason, has 6,282 passing yards for his career (25 games) ... Fort Recovery senior Riley Hiser is the team’s first 1,000-yard rusher since 2018 graduate Will Homan reached the mark in 2017 ... Calpreps.com lists Fort Recovery as two-point favorites (28-26).
