Fort Recovery dominates Jays

DELPHOS, Ohio — The streak continues for the Indians.

A conference rival was the latest victim.

Fort Recovery High School’s volleyball team dominated the host St. John’s Blue Jays on Thursday, 25-12, 25-16, 25-13, in the Midwest Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

The Indians (4-0, 1-0 MAC) have yet to drop a set this season.

Marissa Gaerke and Whitley Rammel led the FRHS offense with 11 kills apiece, and Mara Pearson was second on the team with six kills. Grace Guggenbiller and Teigen Fortkamp each chipped in four kills.

Fortkamp also registered 20 assists.

Defensively, Lilie Leuthold and Rammel shared the team lead with four blocks. Gaerke also had 10 digs.

Junior varsity results were not provided.



Girls fall to Cavs

Fort Recovery’s girls golf team suffered its first Midwest Athletic Conference loss on Thursday with a 192-203 setback to the Coldwater Cavaliers at Portland Golf Club.

Jalyn Bruns led Fort Recovery (9-3, 3-1 MAC) with her round of 42, edging Coldwater’s Jordan Hemmelgarn by one stroke for match medalist honors.

Kim Hart was second for the Tribe as she shot a career-low 50.

Macy Brunswick carded a 55, while Paige Bihn and Shelby Acheson had matching scores of 56 to round out the team total.

Alaina Will also competed, but her 64 did not factor into the team total.



Boys fall to Cavs

CELINA, Ohio — The Fort Recovery boys golf team suffered its third straight loss Thursday, falling to the Coldwater Cavaliers 169-199 at Mercer County Elks Golf Club.

Cole Muhlenkamp shot 47 to lead the Indians (2-7, 1-5 Midwest Athletic Conference).

Isaac LeFevre was second on the team with a 48, and Zander Kunkler was three strokes behind.

Eli Lennartz shot 53 to complete the team score.

Reece Evers (54) and Carson Siefring (56) did not factor into the overall total.
