SELMA — Things didn’t get much easier for the Patriots on Thursday.
The Jay County High School volleyball team lost to the Class 2A No. 9 Wapahani Raiders, 25-16, 25-12, 25-19.
It marked the third straight loss for Jay County (1-4). The Patriots’ only win was a 3-2 triumph over Delta on Aug. 19.
Abbie Fields paced the Patriots with five kills, with Madison Dirksen second with four kills. Maggie Dillon contributed two kills.
Izzy Rodgers racked up 14 assists and seven digs. Brenna Haines tallied 15 digs and five service points, and Grace Brewster also had five points.
Girls draw
Jay County’s girls soccer team played to a 3-3 draw against the Norwell Knights on Thursday.
It was the first draw for the Patriots (3-2-1) since Sept. 10.
Junior Mara Bader had two goals for Jay County and pushed her team leading tally to eight on the season. Gabi Bilbrey scored her sixth goal of the year, and also recorded her first assist of the season as well.
Goalkeeper Tricia Ison made 17 saves, and has now turned away 36 shots in her last two games.
Boys fall in second
OSSIAN — The Jay County boys soccer team wasn’t able to hold on to its halftime lead in a 2-1 loss to the host Norwell Knights on Thursday.
Levi Muhlenkamp found the back of the net for the Patriots (3-2) in the first half off an assist from Jayden Maymi.
But a pair of goals for Norwell in the final 40 minutes put the Knights over the top.
Spikers get sweep
WINCHESTER — Jay County Junior High’s seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams both beat host Driver on Thursday.
The eighth graders won 25-4, 25-14, while the seventh graders got a 25-19, 15-25, 15-12 victory.
Paisley Fugiett paced the eighth graders with 17 service points and three kills, while Kayla Jetmore chipped in 11 points. Mya Kunkler had two kills and a block, and Lani Muhlenkamp recorded three assists.
Carley Trinidad had 15 points to pace the seventh grade squad. Lydia Johnson finished with nine points and Ella Rigby had five points.
