Joseph Boggs set a new course record Tuesday. He lowered it by seven seconds two days later.
Boggs led the Jay County Junior High School boys cross country team with another course record as the Patriots beat Monroe Central and Union on Thursday at Hudson Family Park.
The Patriots scored 23 points for the win. Monroe Central ended with 32 points, and Union did not have enough for a team score.
Monroe Central had the only complete girls team, scoring 28 points.
Boggs won the boys race in 11 minutes, 46 seconds. Raif Beiswnger was 59 seconds behind in second, and Beckett Brandenburg placed fifth in 13:47.
Dougie Cox (14:09) was seventh while Max Klopfenstein (14:13) placed eighth.
Jay County’s Paityn Wendel was the runner-up in the girls race in 14:32, one second and one place ahead of teammate Alexis Sibray. Emily Young (14:58) took fifth, and Kaitlyn Fisher (15:53) placed seventh.
Also running for the Patriot boys were Rocky Beiswanger (12th), Jacob Kellogg (13th), Will Hawbaker (14th), Carter Hartman (16th), David Keen (20th) and Cayden Billington (21st).
