Last week at Woodlan: Jay County struggled offensively in a 31-7 loss to the Woodlan Warriors. Quinn?Faulkner returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown, but the Patriot offense failed to reach the end zone. Faulkner ended with 84 yards on 21 carries. Sam Dunlavy completed four of his 15 pass attempts.
Season leaders: Passing — Sam Dunlavy – 29-of-70 for 368 yards, four touchdowns and seven interceptions. Rushing — Quinn Faulkner – 106 carries for 863 yards and 13 touchdowns. Receiving — Quinn?Faulkner – 11 catches for 100 yards and one touchdown. Defense — Kadin Ridenour – 50 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks, three fumble recoveries and one interception.

Last week at Adams Central: Adams Central scored 48 straight points, including 42 in the first half, to hand South Adams a 48-7 loss. It was the second consecutive loss for the Starfires. South Adams had just 109 yards of total offense. All but two were through the air. Maverick Summersett had 30 yards on 11 rushes. Owen Wanner was 15-of-30 passing for 107 yards.
Season leaders: Passing — Owen Wanner – 63-of-114 for 901 yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions. Rushing — Maverick Summersett – 68 carries for 303 yards and five touchdowns. Receiving — Trey Schoch – 35 catches for 530 yards and five touchdowns. Defense — Brady Beall – 68 tackles, three tackles for loss and one forced fumble.
Last season: Jay County surrendered 21 points in each of the first two quarters in a 55-0 loss to the Class A No. 1 South Adams Starfires. SAHS?quarterback James Arnold was 10-for-10 for 226 yards and three touchdowns. Aidan Wanner recorded three total TDs, and Christian Summersett had two rushing TDs. Kadin?Ridenour led the JCHS rushing attack with 34 yards in the absence of Bailey Cox.
Game notes: This is the 13th meeting all-time between Jay County and?South?Adams, with JCHS holding a 7-5 advantage in the series. The Starfires have won each of the last two meetings by a combined score of 97-0. The Patriots’ last win in the series was a 15-14 victory in 2018 ... South Adams, which is ranked seventh in Class 1A AP poll, is coming off back-to-back losses to state-ranked foes Monroe Central and Adams Central. The last time SAHS lost consecutive games was in 2018 (49-12 to Adams Central and 15-14 to Jay County) ... The Starfires have been bitten by injuries this season, losing starting quarterback Aidan Wanner in week one as well as Sam Plattner a week later. South Adams also lost receiver/corner Conner Young to injury too ... South Adams has a Sagarin rating of 44.04, which is 156th overall and 12th in Class 1A. Jay County’s 26.38 rating is 229th in the state and 47th in Class 4A ... John Harrell’s website predicts South Adams to win, 35-21, while Calpreps.com has the Starfires as 27-point favorites (38-14).
