VERSAILLES — Just one quarter of an inch.
That’s how close Mara Pearson was to her school record in the long jump.
Pearson’s near-record win in her signature event was one of five for the Fort Recovery High School girls track team as it finished second Tuesday in a four-team meet against Midwest Athletic Conference rivals New Knoxville and Delphos St. Johns.
The girls scored 90 points, 45 behind first place Versailles (135). The boys had 55 points, finishing behind conference rival Versailles (164).
Pearson jumped a distance of 17 feet, 8 inches even in the victory.
The girl’s relay teams performed well getting first place in the 4x800-meter relay (10 minutes, 15.77 seconds), the 4x200 relay (1.52.65) and the 4x400 relay (4.22.67). They also finished second in the 4x100 relay.
Other individuals that placed first for the girls were Kiana Matsuda in the 300 hurdles (50.80) and Jenna Hart in the 3,200 run (13.24.00).
Trevor Heitkamp took care of the distance races for the boys, once again finishing first in the 800 run (2.06.51), the 1,600 run (4.36.17) and the 3,200 run (10.23.22).
