Thwaits has tough outing
FORT WAYNE — The second outing of the season was a rough one for a Fort Recovery graduate.
The offense didn’t provide any help.
Nick Thwaits tossed two innings in relief Wednesday as the Fort Wayne TinCaps lost 4-0 to the Lake County Captains.
Thwaits, who graduated from FRHS in 2018, entered the game in the sixth inning with the TinCaps (0-5) trailing 1-0. He allowed three runs on four hits and a walk in two innings while striking out three batters.
The outing bumped his ERA for the season to 5.40. (He had tossed three scoreless innings in Fort Wayne’s 1-0, season-opening loss to the West Michigan Whitecaps.)
Thwaits was 3-5 last season with a 3.19 ERA for the TinCaps, the High affiliate of the San Diego Padres.
