The Patriots had so much offense, they only needed three innings.
Jay County Junior High School’s seventh grade baseball team obliterated the visiting Eastbrook Panthers 18-1 Friday night at Portland Memorial Park’s Runkle-Miller Field.
The Patriots took control with a seven-run first inning. They added one run in the second, scored 10 times in the third and then held Eastbrook scoreless in the top of the fourth to end the game early.
Kent Siegrist, Kavyn Adams and Gavin Byrum all had multiple hits for Jay County, which totaled 11 in all. Byrum had a double in the seven-run first inning, and Alex Miller, Nick Snow, Parker Moore, Adams and Byrum all had RBIs in the third.
Cohen Shimp allowed just one run on two hits and a walk while striking out eight in four innings to earn the win.
