FORT RECOVERY — The Indians fell behind early in an opening loss.
Momentum from the final frame continued en route to a game-two victory.
Despite a five-run effort in the seventh inning of game one Saturday, the Fort Recovery High School baseball team dropped the first game of its doubleheader 8-5 to the South Adams Starfires. They earned a split, winning the second game 6-1.
A committee of Tribe pitchers held South Adams at bay in the second game, only allowing three hits and one run. Bo Thien picked up the win.
The Indians (7-3) scored most of their runs thanks to errors from the Starfires and a two-run single from Daniel Patch.
The Starfires (5-4) got to pitcher Troy Homan in the second inning of game one when singles from Caleb Hirschfeld and Kyle Minger gave them an early 3-0 lead. Homan would suffer the loss, giving up three hits and two earned runs in two innings.
Landon Post and Cale Rammel led the Indians’ seventh-inning push with a single and double, respectively, that scored all five runs.
