Can’t hold on
Jay County’s baseball team dropped its second Allen County Athletic Conference game Thursday to the Adams Central Jets 3-2.
The Patriots (6-7, 0-2 ACAC) gained a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a single from Josh Dowlen that plated one run before Dowlen scored on an error by Jets pitcher Cade Van De Weg.
The Jets (10-3, 2-1 ACAC) would tie the game in the fourth inning when an error by Sam Myers at third base allowed a run to score. They later took the lead in the fifth inning after a double by Ryan Black and a single from Trevor Currie scored the winning run.
Jackson Edwards suffered the loss, giving up three runs on eight hits through four innings.

In the seventh grade game at Blackford, a five-run fifth inning powered the Patriots to victory. Kavyn Adams drove in what would be the winning run in the inning on a groundout.
