Portland Forge played both teams in their league on the same night. Cohen Shimp made sure they won both games.

Portland Forge came out of the doubleheader with two wins Tuesday as it routed Local 1620 18-4 before beating Loy’s Realty 13-7.

In game one, Cohen Shimp smashed two home runs that scored five runs.

Supporting Shimp’s effort was Zane Mapes with a two-RBI double and Cooper Reynolds who scored three times.

Kenton Cochran was Local 1620’s leading hitter with two singles and a run scored. Rhysin Blowers had the only RBI for the team.

In game two, Cohen Shimp had two singles, RBIs and runs. Cooper Shimp had one of each as well.

Three players hit RBI-singles for Portland Forge as well.

For Loy’s Realty, Peyton Yowell and Noah Engart both hit singles and drove in a run. Yowell also hit a double.



PG14 wins

PG14 scored 13 runs in its seven-run win over Optimist in Portland Junior League Willie Mays baseball Tuesday.

Beckham Hough and Eli Homan slashed similar lines with a double, a single and two walks each.

Sawyer Smitley led PG14 with three walks and sprayed a single in as well.

Emmet Betz, Dustin Franks and Ben Wallace all drew two walks in the win as well.

In three innings pitched, Smitley didn’t give up a single run while striking four batters out.



Rock tops

The Rock of Portland Junior League Minor softball took down FCC 12-5 on Monday night.

Emmy Clark hit an inside-the-park home run to help power the win. She also scored two runs in the game.

The Rock also received two runs apiece from Chessa Butcher and Aleah McIntire.
