The Jay County swimmers dominated their first dual meet of the season, as eight athletes were triple-event winners.
The Jay County Summer Swim Team had five triple-event winners, three of which are siblings, to help power them to a 710-366 victory over the Fort Recovery Eels on Monday.
Siblings Henry, Sophie and Grady Warvel were dominant for the Jay simmers.
Henry Warvel handled the 8-and-younger boys 25-yard freestyle, 50 freestyle and backstroke. Sophie Warvel took the 9-10-year-old girls backstroke, individual medley and the 25 freestyle. The 11-12-year-old boys 100 freestyle, butterfly and individual medley were won by Grady Warvel.
The Eels dominated the 15-and-older events. Caleb Smith and Carson Fullenkamp won six of the seven individual events in the age group including the 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle and backstroke for Smith and the 100 freestyle, breaststroke and individual medley for Fullenkamp.
On the girls side, Teigen Fortkamp won the 50 freestyle, backstroke and individual medley.
Other triple event winners for Jay County were Cora Arnold (50 freestyle, butterfly and individual medley) in the girls 8-and-younger and Maria Laux (butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke) for the girls 11-12-year-old girls.
Optimist wins
In a game with a lot of offense, Optimist beat Bizy Dips of Portland Junior League Rookie softball 12-8 on Monday night.
Ellie Darby and Kynlee Homan both tallied four hits for Optimist and scored five runs combined.
Ivy Trinidad and Hazel Younts both smacked a double in the win along with two singles each.
A trio of players for Bizy Dips smacked three hits, including Jessa Gardner and Alyvia Pferter.
Wings and Rings win
Wings and Rings won the offensive battle against Homestead Bedding 24-15 on Monday in Portland Junior League Rookie softball.
Seven batters tallied four hits for Wings and Rings and all but one scored more than one run.
Emme Theurer and Kierstyn White both had extra-base hits in the game, White with a triple and Theurer with a double.
Theurer, White and Carsyn Guggenbiller all scored four times, while Kendall Evans added three runs.
Maitlynn Castillo and Skye Ingram crossed home plate twice to go along with their singles, and Hadleigh Walker scored once.
