A pair of former Patriots contributed to a recent Huntington University victory.
Max Moser helped stake the HU baseball team to a 5-run lead in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday over the University of St. Francis and Noah Arbuckle gave the Foresters a quality start as they earned an 8-6 victory.
Moser, a 2018 Jay County High School graduate, started at designated hitter for the Foresters (13-6), drawing a walk in the second inning. He added a single to center field in the fourth inning to advance Jordan Malott to third base.
He later scored on a Satchell Wilson double to center field.
Arbuckle, JCHS class of 2020, started for Huntington and went four scoreless innings before giving up a run in the fifth. He continued into the seventh before leaving the game. He took a no decision as he struck out five while allowing three runs on seven hits in six-plus innings.
Moser added a 1-for-2 effort with a double, two walks, two RBIs and two runs in the second game of the day. He also had a single and a run March 9 in a 6-5 loss to St. Francis.
Kenzie Ring
Jay County – 2021
Helped the Trine University acrobatics and tumbling team to its first win over Concordia University, 243.07-236.245.
The Thunder, for which Ring is a base and a tumbler, was especially strong in the acro event, outscoring Concordia 25.65-23.95. It also set a new program record in the tumbling event with a score of 45.95 compared to 44.675 points for Concordia.
Brenna Homan
Fort Recovery – 2021
Recorded a third of the hits for the University of St. Francis softball team March 9 in its 1-0 victory over Culver Stockton.
Hitting from the No. 2 spot in the order, Homan finished 2-for-3 on the day. She singled in the first and fifth innings but was left stranded both times.
The catcher also drove in a run Friday as the Cougars (5-5) topped Washington Adventist 9-1 and scored as a pinch runner Wednesday in a 5-2 victory over Indiana Wesleyan.
