The Huntington University baseball team set a school record for wins and advanced to the Crossroads League tournament championship game.

Max Moser made the most of the final year of his career in the process.

The 2018 Jay County High School graduate was named to the All-Crossroads League second team this week after the Foresters came up just short with a 6-5, 10-inning loss to Indiana Wesleyan with the conference title on the line.

Noah Arbuckle, who graduated from JCHS in 2020, earned two of Huntington’s three tournament victories.

Moser had a couple of walks in the championship game, including one that pushed a run across the plate in the seventh inning. He was also 1-for-2 with a run and three walks in an 8-5 win for the HU over St. Francis on Tuesday and 1-for-4 with two runs and a walk in a 12-3 win over Indiana Wesleyan on May 5. He scored in a run in the Foresters’ 7-4, tournament-opening win May 4 over Mount Vernon.

The graduate student earned his all-league honor as he racked up 37 hits, including six home runs and eight doubles, 26 runs and 21 RBIs this season. He had a .485 slugging percentage.

Arbuckle picked up the tournament-opening win over Mount Vernon, going seven innings and striking out four batters. He allowed four runs on 10 hits and a walk.

He was also the winning pitcher in the 8-5 victory over St. Francis as he struck out six batters in 5 1/3 innings. He gave up four runs on six hits and four walks.
