WAPAKONETA, Ohio — Errors bit the Indians.
Wapakoneta scored six runs in the game, but only one was earned.
Unearned runs damaged the Fort Recovery High School baseball team’s chances Thursday as it fell 6-4 to Wapakoneta.
Grant Jolly tripled in the first inning to put a runner on base before the first error was committed by Jackson Ervin to allow the run to score.
The fifth inning brought four more unearned runs. An error by Caden Grisez at shortstop allowed the first batter to reach base. After two walks and two outs, Landon Brandt ripped a bases-clearing double and later scored on an error by catcher Riggs Tobe.
The Tribes’ first run scored on a single by Grisez in the bottom of the third.
They rattled off two more in the sixth on a ball Alex Dues hit that was mishandled by Jolly at shortstop and a Landon Post single.
The final run came in the seventh inning on a single from Tobe, but the Indians did not have enough to come all the way back.
