Jackson Ervin was in complete control of the New Knoxville Rangers on Monday, tossing a no-hitter as the Fort Recovery High School baseball team rolled to a 14-0, five-inning victory over their Midwest Athletic Conference rival in the final game of the regular season.
Ervin only allowed two runners to reach base in the contest, giving up a pair of walks. He struck out 75% of all batters who came to the plate.
His offense didn’t let him down, tallying six runs in the second inning and eight runs in the fourth.
The Rangers had a rough start to the second inning, allowing a run and loading the bases on walks and errors before Riggs Tobe ripped a two-RBI single. The Indians added three more runs on walks and errors.
The Indians’ eight-run fourth inning was powered by walks, errors and four hits.
Nate Jutte hit two singles that drove in a run each, Aex Gaerke had an RBI single and Reece Wendel smacked a two-RBI triple in the frame.
Fort Recovery’s 4-4 MAC record placed it sixth, tied with New Bremen.
