Pearson gives Patriots walk off

Coach Todd Farr said Dusty Pearson would be an important piece come tournament time and that he still needs to get back in his groove.

Pearson’s walk-off single suggests he’s one step closer to getting there.

After Sam Myers was intentionally walked to load the bases, Pearson’s single pushed the Jay County High School baseball team past Delta 5-4 on Monday.

The Patriots struck first when Josh Dowlen led off the game with a single, advanced on a balk and scored on an error by Everett Linn.

They also scored three runs in the third inning on a pair of errors and a ground out.

In innings two through five, starter Kade Sommers gave up a run to the Eagles before Zedrian Vazquez locked down the final two innings and earned the win. Vazquez didn’t allow any batters to reach base in the final two innings.
