Five players were a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate in Cook’s Nursery’s 18-1 win over POET Bioprocessing in Portland Junior League Rookie baseball Friday.
Trey Hirschy led the way with four RBIs, three runs and a double.
Also scoring three runs were Kayden Hoffman and Hunter Hamilton. Both players hit a triple while Hoffman also had a double.
Reid Wendel was second in RBIs with three while also slashing two triples and crossing home plate twice.
Parker Eley was the last player to go 3-for-3, hitting a double that netted two RBIs.
Four other players for Cook’s Nursery added two hits.
POET’s top hitters were Nolan Homan and Dakota Smith who each had two hits.
Walks win it
PG-14 defeated Optimist of Portland Junior League Willie Mays baseball 8-4 Thursday.
PG-14 drew 11 walks while smacking six hits in the contest. Beckham Hough had half of the team’s hits with a double and two singles.
Three players worked for three walks, those being Eli Homan, Dustin Franks and Tanner Day, while Sawyer Smitley added two.
Optimist had four hits, all of them going for two or more bases. Kendal Glessner hit a home run and a double in the game. Bryce VanSkyock hit a triple and Koltyn Garringer added a double.
Late game push
The Portland All-Stars 8-and-younger team rallied for a six-run fifth inning to beat Cowan 10-3 Thursday night.
Three players hit a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate in the game. Carysn Guggenbiller and Savannah Hudson both had a pair of extra-base hits while scoring three runs. Guggenbiller hit a solo home run and a double while Hudson smacked two triples.
Kynlee Homan had three singles and scored one run without making an out at the plate.
Emme Theurer added a double, a single and two runs as well.
The All-Stars first scored in the opening frame before getting three runs in the third and six in the fifth.
Cowan scored their first run in the second inning and two more in the fourth.
