To the editor:
This letter is in response to the Jan. 16, 2024, editorial submitted by the residents of the Town of Redkey addressing Mr. Cooney’s editorial in The CR on Dec. 26, 2023, as it relates to the proposed sober living facility in their community.
I am extremely concerned for the welfare and viability of the community members of Redkey after the numerous deficiencies and lack of resources necessary to sustain human existence as enumerated in their letter:
•No employment opportunities
•No ready access to a grocery store or restaurants
•No recreational spaces
•No easy access to mental health resources or quick hospital access
•No form of public transportation
•No stable police force with a strong police presence
They thanked the county commissioners for addressing their opposition to the proposed sober living facility, but failed to petition them for any assistance in correcting their community's deficiencies they listed in their editorial.
