AS I SEE IT
Columnist thankful for a dry house
I love rain. There are few things better than a rainy day, a cup of hot tea, a good book and a cat in my lap.
Today is more than just a cold day
In addition to being a very cold day in January, today is also Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Time traveling with music
I did a bit of time travel this past Friday. My husband and I went up to Arts Place for a concert featuring Peter Yarrow of the folk group, Peter, Paul and Mary.
Prediction brightened her mood
I woke up in a bad mood. It was cold and snowy outside.
Narrowing choices for birthday $
This is a dangerous time of year. I have birthday money in my pocket even though I don’t turn another year older until tomorrow. What shall I splurge on?
Mom on the mend after surgery
Thank goodness that’s over.
Dreams of garden help month pass
Only a few more days and the longest month of the year will finally be over.
Columnist is ready for Spring
Here we go again. Daylight saving time started yesterday. It’s once again time for all the griping about lost sleep and having to get up early. But as much as I despise the time change, I welcome the change in seasons.
Eggs led to family history search
I never realized that a pickled egg could be a piece of the puzzle. I don’t remember eating them as a child, but then again, there were a lot of things I wouldn’t eat back then so that doesn’t mean they weren’t around.
Brother's gift request seems odd
My brother, Michael, never ceases to amaze me.
Thankful for helper
It is clear that I will not follow in the footsteps of my niece and become a motivational speaker. In fact, I highly doubt that any kind of public speaking will be in my future.
Grandson uses babysitter's name
“Pam! Seet!” one-year-old grandson, Nicholas, commanded me as he patted the floor beside him.
Memories are passed along
“That’s just sad,” granddaughter Emma told me. We had been cuddled up together while she was sick. She started to whistle. I whistled back. Then I told her that my grandpa had taught me how to whistle by imitating the quail that lived along the edges of our pasture.
April feels like March
I am convinced the calendar is off. This is March, not halfway through April.
Weekend will include two parties
I was expecting to go to Mom’s this weekend to celebrate my brother David’s birthday. I called him to find out what kind of cake he wanted. There was no answer so I left a message. A couple of days later I called again. This time he answered.
