Contracts inked for rehab program
Jay County Commissioners signed contracts Monday with contractors and homeowners involved in the $1 million project intended to help local residents pay for home improvements.
Jay stays among lower rates

Missing man was found dead Sunday
Lawrence E. Kirkpatrick, 73, was found in his vehicle in the Salamonie River about 3:30 p.m. Sunday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bridge $ OK’d
Jay County Commissioners approved a contract and funding related to bridge work on county road 600 West just north of Indiana 26. Approximately $175,000 of the cost — it will need to be approved by Jay County Council — will be paid for with economic development income tax (EDIT) dollars.

All of those areas and others will be among those Jay School Board will discuss Monday during a work session dedicated to looking at potential capital improvements for Jay County Junior-Senior High School.
County looks at TIF option
Jay County Redevelopment Commission discussed plans to establish tax increment financing (TIF) districts in the four locations planned for commercial solar energy farms.
Redkey moves toward a new website
Redkey Town Council heard about plans to migrate to a state-affiliated website and approved a related purchase Tuesday. Council also met its newly appointed member, Jennifer Staver, and hired Chris Jack and Alex Heath as town marshal and deputy, respectively.

Jay County Farm Bureau was looking for new ways to reach local youth. Jay County Public Library is always seeking options to expand its programming. Their partnership has grown from an initial event to a full schedule of annual offerings that provide children with education about agriculture.
FR Schools accept bid
Fort Recovery School Board accepted a $870,000 bid Friday from Smith-Boughan Mechanical Service Solutions of Lima, Ohio, for replacing HVAC equipment at Fort Recovery Elementary and Middle School.

Portland Board of Aviation approved contracts Monday with airport manager Hal Tavzel and Lutheran Air, extending their relationships with Portland Municipal Airport.

Jay County’s rate improved to 25th-lowest among the state’s 92 counties according to estimates the Indiana Department of Workforce Development released on Tuesday.
