Exception OK’d for project in Pennville
Jay County Board of Zoning Appeals OK’d a special exception use request from Darrick Plummer of Pennville Partners to allow three parcels zoned as single family residential to join the project. The final decision moves next to Jay County Commissioners.

Redkey woman died in fire on Monday
Lana Roberts, 18, was pronounced dead at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie after being transported there for treatment of injuries from the fire. She sustained severe burns all over her body.
Union Schools file suit against state
Union School Board filed a lawsuit against the State of Indiana on Thursday in Randolph County Circuit Court in an effort to block the section of Senate Enrolled Act 1 that calls for Union Schools to be closed following the 2026-27 school year.

New vet clinic planned
Portland City Council referred a tax abatement request from NAC Holdings for $250,000 in renovations to 1609 N. Meridian St. to the city’s tax abatement advisory committee. Plans are to utilize the building for the new Nose-to-Tail Animal Clinic.
