Paige Beaty and Thomasina O'Conner were chosen by the Dunkirk American Legion Auxiliary No. 227 as Hoosier Girls State Delegates and will attend the 66th annual session of Hoosier Girls State June 22 to 28 at Indiana State University in Terre Haute

Jay County Historical Museum, 903 E. Main St. in Portland, has been chosen to participate in Heritage Preservation's 2008 Conservation Assessment Program (CAP).

The National Center for Great Lakes Native American Culture will host traditional cultural arts classes Monday, Aug. 4 through Friday, Aug. 8, at the Women's Building at Jay County Fairgrounds.

The Jay County Public Library will have singer/ventriloquist Marc Thomas and his puppet Max the Moose entertain on Monday at 11 a.m.
