Nominations sought for 2016 torch relay

Nominations are now being accepted for Indiana Bicentennial torchbearers.

Bug program scheduled

Tom Turpin will present the program “Insects, Humans and the Moth Woman of the Limberlost’ from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 23, at Limberlost Visitor Center in Geneva.

East Jay MS names squad

East Jay Middle School named its cheerleading squad for the fall after recent tryouts were held.

McKinley, All win state competition

Michael McKinley, a sophomore at Jay County High School, and David All, a senior at South Adams High School, both  students the machine trades class at South Adams,  recently won a state machine competition.

Gillespie to run for fallen

Run for the Fallen, a three-day, 140 mile journey to honor Indiana’s military fallen heroes and their families, will begin at 7:30 a.m. Friday, May 15, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne and Portland resident Donald Gillespie will be participating.

Rainbow Bottom tour is Saturday

A guided tour of Gene Stratton-Porter’s Rainbow Bottom will be held Saturday in Geneva.

Fun night to be held at community center

Jay Community Center will have a Family Fun Night Friday. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., family games will be begin at 6 p.m. and free pizza and pop will be served at 6:30 p.m.

Class will be held Saturday

Arts Place, 131 E. Walnut St. in Portland, will host a Glass and Palette class from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Museum of Soldier meeting is Saturday

Museum of the Soldier will have its 15th annual meeting at 6 p.m. Saturday at East Jay Middle School.

Area schools name honor roll students

Students at West Jay Middle School were named to the honor roll for the third nine-week grading period.

WJMS names top students
