County approves contract for ARPA funding
Jay County Commissioners approved an inter-local agreement Monday with Jay County Redevelopment Commission. The agreement commits just over $1.28 million in ARPA funds toward development of the county’s 68 acres on the west edge of Portland.
Winchester firefighter remembered
Rick Sanders, a Winchester firefighter who died after going into cardiac arrest while fighting a fire Dec. 12, was remembered by family, friends and the community as all of those things and more during his funeral service Sunday at Winchester Fieldhouse.
Redkey looking to change ordinances

Commission contributes
Portland Redevelopment Commission on Friday agreed to contribute $1,500 toward connecting a new water line to water meters at the Hawkins Galleria and its annex.
Equipment suggested

Council voices support for park concept
Portland City Council on Monday informally gave Portland Park Board the go-ahead to continue working toward a “social park” on the empty lot at the southwest corner of Main and Commerce streets.
Two officers hired
During a special meeting Tuesday, Portland Board of Works hired Jagg Nunez and Jonathan Cave as police officers for the city. It also terminated the employment of former wastewater treatment plant superintendent Brad Clayton.

Fort Recovery School Board heard an update Monday on hopes and plans for long-term maintenance goals on the district’s structures.
Village will do more testing
Village administrator Randy Diller explained to Fort Recovery Village Council on Monday plans are to move forward with additional testing for Lemna Environmental Technologies.
