Arts place to offer classes

Arts Place in Portland is accepting registrations for art classes that will begin on Nov. 3 and continue through Dec. 19.

Quilt enthusiasts invited to meeting

Oktoberfest to be held at high school

Linda (May) Hurst, a 1976 graduate of Jay County High School, was the recipient of the Nursing Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay Professional Program in Nursing.

Main Street U.S.A. will be held Saturday

The Main Street U.S.A. Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at West Jay Middle School gym in Dunkirk.

C3 event will be at John Jay

The John Jay Center for Learning will host the fourth annual C3-College-Career-Connect event from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 8 for students and parents to connect with college representatives and learn more about college, careers and financial aid opportunities.

Join healthy eating classes

LifeStream Services will offer the program Healthy Eating Every Day, for adults 60 and older, at Jay County Public Library.

Aging week begins with Sunday social

The third annual Active Aging Week will be at The Arthur and Gloria Muselman Wellness Pavilion in Berne for those 55 and older with the theme “Senior Camp Adventure.”

FFA honored as three star chapter

Jay County High School’s FFA?chapter has been honored as a three-star chapter.

Pet refuge event scheduled

The Midwest Pet Refuge in Portland will host the free community event, Pack the Park, at Hudson Family Park on Sept. 26 and 27, to raise awareness of the organization’s projects and goals.

Library is loaded with activities

Jay County Public Library, 315 N. Ship St. in Portland, has several activities coming up this fall.

Pigeon exhibit will open at Limberlost

The opening of the new passenger pigeon exhibit will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Limberlost State Historic Site in Geneva in honor of “Martha,” the last living passenger pigeon.

Registrations being taken for art classes

Fall and winter arts classes are being offered at Arts Place  in Portland, and a new exhibit is set to begin later this month.

Hazardous materials course to be offered

Jay County Emergency Management and the Jay County Local Emergency Planning Council is offering a Hazardous Materials Refresher Course on Saturday, Sept. 13.

Tractor show begins Wednesday

The 49th Annual Antique Engine and Tractor Show will begin Wednesday at the Jay County Fairgrounds in Portland and continue through Sunday, Aug. 24.
